WHO ARE THE NOSTALGIA BOYS FROM ILLINOIS ??
|
The Nostalgia boys From Illinois is a Midwest group of front engine drag racers that
get together for side-by-side heads up racing. As long as you have a chassis safety
tag and a valid licensed driver, it's pretty much "run what you brung". This group has
the largest group of consistent running front engine dragsters in the area and is very
familiy oriented.
Established in 1993 by Bernie "boomboom" leonard. The group started running in the
10 second range on carburetors and race gas. As every good racer knows, speed
demands more speed. Therefore, the group has upgraded to injectors and or
blowers, and gas has become alcohol or nitro. Now these front engine rails run in the
low 7-8 second range. In fact the best et/mph sits with Tom McKeon's "Diggin It" at
7.08 seconds and 193 mph.
In producing a great show for spectators and racers alike, The Nostalgia Boys From
Illinois could not do this without the great support of their sponsors, friends, and
famalies. These people all travel together and everyone participates to keep this a
fun and supportive activity for all involved. The real success of this group is their
comradeship. Are you hungry, thirsty, do you need some help? Whatever it is, this
group's strength lies in their ability to have fun and work together for the betterment
of each team. Racers travel together, drive tow vehicles, set up camp, tear it down,
make all meals, offer you a place to sleep and basiclly become one big family at
each event. They work, race, and play together, and always make outsiders feel
welcome. Just Look For The Village Of White tents!
The Nostalgia boys From Illinois home track is Great Lakes Dragaway in Union
